"This Should be a Breeze" - Shot1: Block pass

In this pass, I adjusted my timing a bit so that the animation reads smoothly without any hiccups and misunderstandings. I went in and added breakdowns in this stage. Not all breakdowns are seen in this time around. For the next block pass, I will factor in more.

"This Should be a Breeze" - Shot1: Storytelling

When I golf, it always seems that luck is never on my side. I chose to animate something comical that can translate just how unfortunate my golf game can be on the course. I'll be updating shot progress as much as I can. Here is Shot 1: Storytelling.

Renaissance Festival animation

Inspired by a couple of animations I stumbled upon in Vimeo, I chose to create a different type of walk cycle I had seen over the internet. Through readings, I found out how some animators were breaking up the cycle and arranging the animation to give more personality to their character. I took what I had experienced from the summer at a renaissance festival and applied it to this animation. The atmosphere was entertaining, loose and educational. This initial walk cycle idea developed into a small acting practice. Below is a link to the vimeo page. >> https://vimeo.com/80865705

Kenny Roy Animation Practice (Final)

I made sure to address the necessary areas of the animation that were lacking some principles. I definitely enjoyed this whole exercise as I progressed through the end of the month since becoming a member half way into September. Looking forward to Kenny's critiques. Here is my final submission below

Kenny Roy Animation Practice (animation ver3)

There were a couple passes I skipped to post but I decided to wipe out the "pointing pose" and stick with the "tada" pose. Here is another WIP of my Kenny Roy take with Putting on a Hat. Below is a link to the first smooth pass.

Kenny Roy Animation Practice (animation ver2)

Below is version 2 of my WIP. I fixed a few things other animators suggested that were pretty helpful. Still in the blocking stage. I am trying to convey that Malcolm is thinking of his good times with his lucky hat then expresses his happiness in the end. So far this is what I came up with as a result. Trying to "do a lot more of a lot less". - Kenny Roy

Kenny Roy Animation Practice

For this month I had intentions of creating my own personal animation, but instead I finally decided to join Kenny Roy's website. With this said, Kenny's exercise for this month is to place a hat on a character's head. Below is version 1 of a blockpass (staging/storytelling). I am enjoying the challenge so far.

11 Second Club_August_2013

For this month's entry, I skyped with my friend Alex and really tried to "animate the subtext" in my head. I wrote down notes as we were discussing the intriguing possibilities for the interaction between the two characters. I am proceeding to go with the rigs Patrick and Bonnie for this month.

Scooter Chase_Playblast

Below is a screenshot of my latest animation. I focused mainly on the animation and added in minor backdrop models for the scene. The boxes the scooter passes are placeholders for the lighting that will be included in the final render. For now, I figured I would post this and wait for some critiques while I work on this month's 11 Second Club animation for August. Here is a link to the vimeo playblast > https://vimeo.com/71937100

Final_Version_Smartpac_Jacc_New

I finally decided on my updated version of Smartpac Jacc 2. I was fumbling around with the new look, but here are a few concepts. Now it's time to 3D model!

Cowboy_animation

I have been focusing on trying to sharpen my lip sync animations. I decided to go with a Clint Eastwood vibe in this particular one I am currently working on. Before I jumped into things I really thought out what it is I wanted the audience to interpret. So as I storyboarded, I strategically tried to place the character, props, and cameras accordingly to make the animation understandable, smooth, and entertaining. Below is a shot I happened to enjoy. This animation is a WIP.

Smartpac Jacc 2

Here is an update of Smartpac Jacc 2. As I am organizing a short animation storyboard for my new demo reel intro, I try to decide a new look for the clumsy inventor.

11 Sec Club Dec_Fixes

So I made sure I had some feedback before diving in to make the fixes. Based on the previous one, I think some were saying that it was unclear why the bartender fell in the first place. I positioned the other character's arm higher and more in the line of action directed towards the face for the adjustment. Also, some were saying that there were still tangent smoothing in the arms and other minor areas that could use less ambiguity. In the process, I pointed out errors myself that could of used better limb arrangements and facial flow to lead the viewer through the animation.Click for fixed video link >>> https://vimeo.com/57985360

11 Sec Club Dec Evolution Reel

It has been a long delay for posting this but I wanted to make sure I had enough critiques on this animation before I gave myself the green light. Keep in mind that the rendered version in this reel is not finalized. I'm going back to make the necessary changes and will end up posting it by itself. So here is the evolution of my 11 second animation that was worked on throughout the month of December. Flow Lines

I continue to expose myself to the basic principles of animation. Recently I watched Kung Fu Panda for the second time and tried to really keep in mind of certain animation terms. In the shot below I happened to catch this clever set-up of Tigress and Po. In the short shot that it was, I noticed both her body and eyes lined up in such a way that it not only drew my attention on her but also Po's awestruck expression.
